Rima Mickus is a licensed clinical professional counselor and coach in private practice since 2013. She approaches therapy from a collaborative and compassionate perspective. Rima helps clients see their strengths and abilities, and helps them navigate through their painful experiences. She assists clients in exploring any maladaptive patterns that may be keeping them stuck, and empowers them in learning new strategies for coping and overcoming obstacles. Rima is trained in evidence based Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and utilizes relational and insight-oriented approaches to promote insight into how your history influences recurrent maladaptive patterns of behavior which keep you from experiencing a fuller life.

Rima's style is compassionate and sincere. She provides support and space for exploring thoughts and feelings about difficult situations. When appropriate, she challenges clients to encourage their growth and development. She welcomes the opportunity to meet and talk with you about your concerns.

After completing her Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, she worked as a staff therapist for Breaking Free, a substance abuse agency, working with adolescents and adults with alcohol and drug addictions. Rima stays up to date on the latest research on causes and treatments for depression and anxiety, and utilizes an integrative approach to treatment. She holds a certificate in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), and is one of a few clinicians in the Chicagoland area who have this training.  She also is focused on training and education in the latest couples therapy approaches.
